- At St. Anthony Church, we believe all parishioners are ministers. Below you'll find opportunities to use your time and talents, combined with the collective resources of our parish, to participate in our church and serve the community.
Serve our Parish
- LITURGICAL MINISTRIES. Liturgical ministers are parishioners who generously assist with Mass. Lectors, Eucharistic ministers, altar servers (youth and adult), singers/musicians, as well as sacristans, greeters and ushers, participate by sharing their gifts with the community. No previous experience is needed. Training begins the process. The commitment is generally two to three times per month at a weekend Mass of your choice. Please prayerfully consider if God is calling you to support the celebration of the Mass! Contact: Van Nguyen or Father Tad; musicians/singers contact Corinne Jarrett.
- PASTORAL CARE MINISTRY. Members of this team tend to the dying and the grieving by assisting them, their family and presider with funeral preparations and guiding family members through the funeral Mass in this most important pastoral ministry. They visit the sick and homebound and bring Communion to them at home or in the hospital, and also serve during the annual Mass of Consolation. This committee puts on several blood drives each year. If you wish to extend your participation at Sunday Mass into the lives of parishioners, this is the ministry for you. Contact Faye Careway.
- ADORATION MINISTRY. This is our newest ministry. Join to help coordinate and encourage participation in our parish's first Friday of the month overnight Eucharistic Adoration. Meeting attendance is as-needed. Contact Edith Baretta.
- EVENTS & SOCIAL COMMITTEE. This group is a blend of the former event and social committees that promotes, organizes and conducts major fund-raising events for the parish, such as a Monte Carlo style night, wine tasting events, dinners, and more. The committee is looking for new members with fresh ideas for entertaining, fun-filled events that bring community awareness to the growing needs of our parish family. The committee also promotes, organizes, and presents social events to bring our parish family together through activities such as Pasta Night, the Saint Patrick’s Dinner, the Annual Parish Picnic (June), and the Progressive Dinner (every other fall—photo at left.) Members can participate in one or as many events as they choose. Contact Ken Wadors, Vince Macaluso or Dede Adams.
- BUILDING & GROUNDS COMMITTEE. This committee offers the opportunity to participate in new projects and ongoing maintenance that make our parish buildings and grounds welcoming and beautiful. The church is looking for parishioners with general handyman skills, a willingness to learn, and a desire to participate with others in this ministry. Contact the parish office.
- CLEANING COMMITTEE: McKEAN CHURCH. People take turns dusting the church furniture, altar, ambo, presider’s chair, and candles; vacuuming under the chairs by section; and cleaning the Blessed Sacrament Chapel. Participate by sharing your cleaning skills to enhance the worship space. Contact Hal Careway.
- CLEANING COMMITTEE: HISTORIC CHURCH. Also known as the "Mary, Martha, Joseph Committee," these dedicated “saints” take turns keeping our historic church neat and tidy by vacuuming, dusting furniture, removing cobwebs, and sweeping the stairs and walks outside—all in an excellent space to meditate and spend time in prayer with the Lord. Contact Barbara Schroeder.
- HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE. To help create a vibrant and welcoming after-Mass experience, members of this committee plan monthly refreshments for Sunday morning Masses, and occasionally for the 4:00 pm Saturday Mass at our historic little church. Volunteers prepare and set up prior to Sunday, serve after the Mass they typically attend, and clean up after the Sunday 10:30 am Mass. Duties also include replenishing supplies, ordering/purchasing refreshments, and coordinating volunteers. Contact Lucy Tanzil.
- ST. ANTHONY SENIORS (S.A.S.). All “55 and over” members of our parish are invited to participate in the fellowship and stewardship of this active group. Each year, S.A.S. cooks and serves a dinner for a homeless shelter. The group also organizes a Mother’s Day bake sale and generously returns the proceeds to the church in the form of liturgical improvements. S.A.S.’s social activities include an annual picnic, a Christmas brunch, monthly lunches, and other fun and engaging outings. Meetings are in the evening on the second Friday of each month, except during the summer. Contact Stephanie Procker.
- PASTORAL LEADERSHIP TEAM. The Pastoral Leadership Team has replaced the Parish Council. Its mission is to carry out the parish's strategic Pastoral Plan.
- FINANCE COMMITTEE. The parish Finance Committee, required by Church law, aids and assists the pastor in overseeing the temporal welfare of the parish. Our group helps to advise the pastor with temporal and fiscal affairs, including maintenance of the annual operating budget and accounting. If you’re interested in offering your expertise, we’re always looking for new members. All members of the committee are appointed by the pastor.
Serve the Community
- OUTREACH COMMITTEE. Serving basic needs of our parish and local community is the focus of this committee. Participants coordinate and take part in several activities throughout the year, including a toiletry drive, dinners at homeless shelters, an Easter basket project, and appeals for backpacks with school supplies, Thanksgiving food, and Christmas toys. Committee-wide meetings are held on four Thursday nights over the year. Contact Dede Adams or Patti Rottjakob.
- KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS. Become a member of this very rewarding men's fraternal organization which provides assistance to the needs of St. Anthony Parish and general community through volunteer work, financial support, and sponsorship of various charitable activities. Learn more about the Knights on Ministry Sunday and how you too can become part of this 1.8 million worldwide Catholic fraternity of brothers. Contact Ken Wadors.
